All buildings demolished during the war must be exempted from payment of the electricity reconnection fee

The Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina opened an ex officio case with regard to the payment of the electricity reconnection fees for religious buildings devastated and destroyed during the war period.

It is a formal problem and is linked to a deadline, since the approval for the electricity connection has to be obtained for buildings which were disconnected from the electric distribution network for more than five years.

Ombudspersons think that electricity reconnection for the buildings demolished during the war activities should be done under more favorable conditions. First of all, in the concrete case, it is about the reconstruction and repair of the religious building that was connected to the electric network before the war. Therefore, Ombudspersons are of the opinion that it is about the previously acquired rights.

In accordance with provisions of Article 32 of the Law on Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina have recommended to the Regulatory Commission for Electricity of the Federation of BiH – FERK, to amend their General Conditions for the Electric Energy Supply in sense to exempt the building demolished as a consequence of the war activities from payment of electricity reconnection fees and inform Ombudspersons about their actions within 30 days.
