Regional meeting of representatives of institutions for protection of human rights

The Ombudsmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina prof. Dr. Ljubinko Mitrović and Chairperson Nives Jukić hosted a regional consultative meeting of representatives of national institutions for the protection of human rights held on February 14, 2018 in Sarajevo.

The meeting discussed the cooperation so far, as well as the establishment of a common basis for carrying out a role in the prevention and elimination of human rights violations. Particular attention during the interview was dedicated to the role of national institutions for the protection of human rights in judicial and administrative proceedings.

Chairperson, Mrs. Nives Jukić, thanked the participants in the regional meeting at the opening speech and expressed hope that the future cooperation of human rights institutions from the region would be more successful.

The Ombudsman, Ljubinko Mitrović, pointed out the importance of joint action and the strengthening of the future regional cooperation between human rights institutions, and presented a number of concrete proposals for joint activities for the next period.

In the further course of the meeting, Ombudsmen and representatives of national institutions for the protection of human rights and equality bodies from Montenegro, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Albania exchanged past experience in dealing with courts, but also referred to cooperation with representatives authorities, and presented the characteristic cases and the way they were resolved in the past work.

At the end of the meeting, the participants emphasized the importance of joint cooperation and agreed that in order to achieve as many recommendations as possible, ie the implementation of recommendations by the authorities, the strength of the arguments and the authority of the institutions of human rights protection is necessary.
