Ombudsman's Activities | 17.02.2017 Assistant and Advisor Ombudsman Meet Ministress of Justice and Administration of Canton 10 Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina On Wednesday, 15 February this year in Livno, on the initiative of Ministress of Justice and Administration of Canton 10, Mirjana Stojsavljević Petraković a meeting was held with the representatives of the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The meeting took place on the premises of the Government of Canton 10, and it was attended by Ivica Ćosić, president of the Appelate Council of Canton 10. The meeting was organized in order for Ministress to get more familiar with the work of the Field Office of the Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Livno, and method of processing complaints received concerning the work of the judiciary. On this occasion Assistant Ombudsman, Branko Perković and Advisor Ombudsman Dita Maglica pointed out to the most common reasons of addressing the Ombudsman in the field of judiciary in Canton 10, where the focus of most complaints relates to the length of the proceedings. Representatives of the Ombudsman emphasized that a number of complaints handled by the Field Office Livno about court proceedings in cases where the respondent party is the Government of the Canton 10, last for several years, which contributes to the lack of trust in the judiciary and the rule of law. They also pointed to the length of bankruptcy proceedings, which can last even fifteen years. In discussion with president of the Appellate Council of the Government of Canton 10 representatives of the Ombudsman pointed to the problem of cooperation, mentioning the implementation of the Ombudsman’s recommendations. In the further course of the meeting, the participants exchanged experiences regarding the implementation of the Law on Ministerial, Government and Other Appointments in FBiH ("Official Gazette of F BiH", no. 12/03, 34/03), Law on Notaries of FBiH, as well as Law on Free Legal Aid in Canton 10. Future cooperation was agreed at the meeting including, if necessary, joint meetings in order to improve the work of the judiciary in Canton 10.
