Ombudsman's Activities | 23.03.2017 The ombudsmen talked with SIGMA experts Meeting with experts of SIGMA Ombudsmen Nives Jukić and Dr. Jasminka Džumhur today in the Regional Office in Sarajevo held a meeting with experts of the SIGMA. As in previous years the Office of the Coordinator for Public Administration Reform (PARCO) this year, too, provides support to experts of the SIGMA/OECD in preparing the assessment report on the situation in the public administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. This year's assessment is part of the overall activities of the European Commission for its Opinion on the readiness of Bosnia and Herzegovina to start negotiations on membership. The Ombudsmen and the experts discussed the Law on Civil Service in the Institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in which they stated that in the context of the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina annually is received between 400 and 700 complaints, when it comes to economic and social rights, which are mainly related to employment issues and competitions procedures. At the meeting it was noted that the recommendations of the Ombudsmen are more and more respected when it comes to labor disputes, and that the Ombudsmen are open to any cooperation. During the multi-day visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, it is planned that experts of the SIGMA hold meetings with representatives of BiH institutions, in which there will be requested additional information on the situation in BiH administration.
