Ombudsman Dr. Jasminka Džumhur on the effectiveness of the mechanisms of protection in cases of discrimination at the conference in Neum

Ombudsman Dr. Jasminka Džumhur participated in the round table on "The effectiveness of protection mechanisms in cases of discrimination" that was held on 17 June 2017 in Neum, within the fourteenth International Conference organized by the Faculty of Law, University of Mostar with the support of the German Association for International Cooperation (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)) in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Institution of Ombudsman for Human rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Cooperation between the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina and GIZ relating the issues of discrimination has its continuity through the "Open Regional Fund for South East Europe - Legal Reform", under which was realized this round table.

The goal of the roundtable in Neum was to make familiar the participants of international conference with the role of all relevant actors: the Ombudsman, the Ministry for Human Rights, courts, prosecutors, NGOs and the media in ensuring the effective ways of combating discrimination. The round table created space for the exchange of experiences of all present players, especially in light of the latest amendments to the Law on Prohibition of Discrimination in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ombudsman Dr. Jasminka Džumhur and Dr. Predrag Raosavljević, head of the Department for combating all forms of discrimination of the Institution of Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, exhibited in the panel “The role of the Ombudsman as a central Institution in the protection against discrimination".
