Press statement | 05.07.2017 Recommendation to the University of Tuzla - equal treatment of all employees Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina The Ombudsman Institution for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina has received an complaint from Boris Krešić from Živinica, which refers to a violation of rights from employment and legal relations, and because of the failure to comply with an oral request for the approval of one day paid leave for the purpose of using the religious and traditional needs of the complainant. The complaint indicates that the University of Tuzla has different procedures regarding the exercise of the right to use paid leave from work, that is, the rights related to the use of religious or traditional needs in the exercise thereof, that members of the Islamic faith, without exception, use the right to paid leave and that records are kept in the shield list, that is, that written requests are not submitted for satisfying the religious needs of the Bajram nor made a decision on paid absence from work, while he is obliged to submit a written request for his religious and traditional needs for which a decision is made. Following an investigation initiated by the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the conducted proceedings in the case of the complainant and in accordance with the Law on the Ombudsman for Human Rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina and with their powers, Ombudsmen for Human Rights issued a recommendation number P-131/17 to the University of Tuzla to act in accordance with positive legal regulations, and submit to each employee a decision on paid leave in order to meet religious or traditional needs without any differences The implementation of recommendation P-131/17 is in progress.
