Ombudspersons welcomed the installation of an elevator for persons with disabilities in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska

Ombudspersons of Bosnia and Herzegovina emphasize the importance of implementing the Ombudsman's recommendation by the National Assembly of Republika Srpska regarding the installation of an elevator for persons with disabilities, which will enable them to move freely within the entire facility of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska and remind the other legislative bodies of their obligations arising from the recommendations issued by Ombudspersons within the framework of the Special Report entitled "Accessibility of Premises of Legislative Bodies in Bosnia and Herzegovina to Persons with Disabilities". The Ombudsmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina invites all the legislative bodies to inform the Ombudsman institution of further progress in the area of accessibility for persons with disabilities and removal of architectural barriers, bearing in mind that the deadline of six months from the date of the publication of the above report has expired in December 2016.

Ombudspersons are convinced that only cooperation and mutual respect can contribute to the achievement of the assumed obligations and the rule of law and the realization of the rights of all citizens, particularly vulnerable categories of population.
