Press statement | 14.02.2018 Combating discrimination in focus the Conference in Sarajevo tomorrow Regional conference 2018 The Institution of Human Rights Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina with support of the European Union Delegation to BiH, the Office of the Council of Europe in BiH and the OSCE Mission to BiH is organizing a regional conference: „Exchange of best practices in tackling the human rights violation cases with particular focus to combating discrimination”, in Thursday and Friday, 15 and 16 February 2018 in Sarajevo. The aim of the Conference is exchange of views and experiences on the role of institutions for human rights protection in judicial and administrative proceedings. The conference will provide a platform for discussion and exchange of good practices, and strengthening the cooperation between these institutions in preventing and combating human rights violations. The Conference will gather participants from Montenegro, Croatia, Kosovo*, FYR Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Turkey, and Bosnia and Herzegovina and will include representatives of the judiciary, academia and civil society organizations. We hereby invite all media to take statements tomorrow, Thursday 15 February at 09:15 in the Hall at second floor, in the BiH Parliamentary Assembly, Trg BiH 1. The conference is held under the Project on "Strengthening the Human Rights Ombudsman Institution in the Fight Against Discrimination", which is an integral part of the cooperation program between the European Union and the Council/ the Council of Europe. The three-year "Horizontal Facility for Support to the Western Balkans and Turkey", funded by the European Union, is being implemented from May 2016 to May 2019, covering three areas: justice, anti-corruption, economic crime and organized crime, against discrimination and protection of the rights of vulnerable groups. * This designation is without prejudice to positions on status, and is in line with UNSC 1244 and the ICJ Opinion on the Kosovo Declaration of Independence.
