Ombudsman dr. Jasminka Džumhur at a workshop on the role of national human rights institutions in the promotion and protection of the human rights of internally displaced persons

Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina dr. Jasminka Džumhur took an active part in a workshop on the role of national human rights institutions in the promotion and protection of the human rights of internally displaced persons, held in Geneva on February 20 this year in a joint organization of GANHRI, UNHCR and OHCHR.

The aim of this workshop was to identify examples of good practice, identify key lessons, and give concrete recommendations on how to strengthen the role of national human rights institutions in promoting and protecting the rights of internally displaced persons.

In this regard, the role of these institutions in raising awareness about internally displaced persons, as well as the handling of individual complaints, and the monitoring and reporting on the implementation of national policies in this field were considered.

Speaking about the role of national institutions in the protection of the rights of internally displaced persons, Ombudsman dr. During her presentation, Jasminka Jumhur paid special attention to the main challenges and examples of good practice, as well as recommendations that could contribute to strengthening the role of national human rights institutions in this area and strategies in order to effectively cooperate with national human rights institutions with other partners at the national, regional and international level.
