Ombudsmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nives Jukić and dr. Jasminka Džumhur received the delegation of the Council of Europe Secretariat from Strasbourg today, in the premises of the Regional Office in Sarajevo, composed of: Daniil Khochabo, Deputy Director for Political Affairs, and Biljana Prlja, political adviser. The meeting was also attended by Toni Pavloski, Deputy Head of the Office of the Council of Europe in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

On this occasion, Khochabo pointed out the importance of the Ombudsman institution for human rights of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a partner of the Council of Europe. He showed particular interest in the Ombudsman's opinion on the state of human rights, and in this regard the issues that most troubling citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as a number of other issues of importance for the functioning of the Ombudsperson Institution.

The chairperson, Ombudsman Jukić, informed the distinguished guests in which procedural phase are the amendments to the Law on the Ombudsman, which envisages the establishment of the Preventive Mechanism and the greater financial independence of this institution. She also took the opportunity to inform the delegation about the regular activities of the institution, especially when it comes to special reports.

Among other things, Ombudsman dr. Džumhur emphasized that citizens face problems and violations of human rights through daily contact with the Administration and administration bodies, which is why it is very important to educate both administrative staff and police officers, but also support the possible development of strategies on human rights. rights or prohibiting discrimination.

Ombudsmen agreed that the human rights of marginalized groups, discrimination as a multidisciplinary area and the issue of the work of the Administration and the judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina are burning problems that citizens of this country meet every day.
