Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina dr. Jasminka Džumhur in a working visit to Bihać

Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina dr. Jasminka Džumhur and her associates are on a two-day working visit to Bihać and the Una-Sana Canton on Wednesday, 23 and Thursday, May 24, 2018.

During the first day of the visit, the ombudsman met with the Mayor of Bihać, Sühret Fazlić. At the meeting in the Mayor's Cabinet, the current situation in the town of Bihać was discussed in terms of respecting and protecting human rights, especially given the increased number of migrants who stay on a daily basis in the city. In the further course of the discussion, the results of the activities on the organization of the official days of the Ombudsman institution in Bihać were discussed. Ombudsmen dr. On this occasion, Jasminka Dzumhur made her observations on the complaints filed by citizens from the Una-Sana Canton filed with this institution. At the end of the meeting, mutual readiness for continuing the cooperation of the Ombudsman institution and city authorities was expressed.

The Ombudsperson of Dr Jasminka Džumhur, accompanied by associates, also visited the Djača dom in Bihać where migrants are housed.

In the continuation of her visit to Bihac, Ombudsman dr. Jasminka Džumhur will take an active part in the work of the two-day conference on the state of human rights and freedoms in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held in this city on 23 and 24 May 2018. The conference is organized by the Joint Commission for Human Rights of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the support of the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The primary goal and central theme of the conference is the issue of respecting the human rights of asylum seekers, refugees and migrants.
