Ombudsman's Activities | 25.03.2019 The Ombudsmen at the Workshop on Capacity Building on Economic and Social Rights in (Post) Conflict Situation Ombudsmen at the Workshop on Building Capacities on Economic and Social Rights in the (Post)Conflict Situation The Ombudsmen of Bosnia and Herzegovina Nives Jukić, Prof. Dr. Ljubinko Mitrović and Dr. Jasminka Džumhur addressed today participants in the Workshop on Capacity Building on Economic and Social Rights in the (post) conflict situation, organized by the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI). The two-day workshop is intended for staff of national human rights institutions (NHRIs), civil society organizations and international organizations, and addresses the challenges of preventing, protecting and promoting economic and social rights in (post) conflict situations. The aim is to explore the specific role of national human rights institutions in monitoring economic and social rights and to contribute to early warning and possibly more sustainable peace. The focus of the workshop is on building understanding and researching links between conflict and economic and social rights, including a discussion of international and regional human rights standards, as well as the objectives of sustainable development. The NHRIs will discuss specific problematic case studies and general NHRI approaches to address violations of economic and social rights.
