Ombudswoman Dr. Jasminka Džumhur spoke with students of the Gymnasium „Obala“ in Sarajevo and members of the CIVITAS section

On Friday, February 14, 2020, Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Dr. Jasminka Džumhur received the students of the Public Institution Gymnasium „Obala“ in Sarajevo and the members of the CIVITAS section, led by Civic Education/Democracy and Human Rights professor Melika Brodović, at the Sarajevo Regional Office.

Interview with Ombudsman Dr. Jasminka Džmhur and the students is the realization of the Citizen project, which aims to develop student responsibilities for active participation in civic life and governance.

Since students chose the issue of "Endangering Media Freedom" as their theme, the central topic of discussion with Ombudsman Dr. Jasminka Džumhur concerned the Ombudsman's observations regarding media freedom in Bosnia and Herzegovina. She stressed, among other things, that freedom of the media is a key pillar of democracy and a foundation on which to build societies that respect civil rights and fundamental freedoms.
