Ombudsman Prof. Dr. Ljubinko Mitrović visited the Juvenile Correctional Facility in Orašje

On Tuesday, September 14, 2021, Chairman of the Ombudsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Prof. Dr. Ljubinko Mitrović and his associates visited the Juvenile Correctional Institution at the Orašje Semi-Open Penitentiary.

On that occasion, the Ombudsman had a conversation with the warden of the prison, Ivo Ivkić, who informed the Ombudsman and his associates about the current situation in this Department of that institution.

This visit was also used to talk to convicts and juveniles, as well as employees (guards and educators) in this institution.

The visit was realized within the continuation of joint cooperation between UNICEF and the Ombudsman institution on the preparation of a special report on the situation in institutions where children in conflict with are placed, and a comprehensive and quality methodology for visits to institutions of this type, which would be used in future visits, not only by the Ombudsman, but also by other relevant factors.
